First trip to the caravan

Monday, May 30th, 2005

At the weekend I went to visit Nan and Grandad Childs at their caravan in Nayland. I had a wonderful time playing in the canoes, but only on the grass because Mummy said I am too little to go on the water yet. Grandad let me sit at the wheel of his 4 wheel drive but I couldn’t drive it because my feet wouldn’t reach the pedals and I couldn’t even see over the top of the steering wheel!

I made friends with a whole bunch of cows. My favourite one wasn’t much older than me and I named it “Burgundy”. I also saw some bats!

I didn’t like sleeping in the awning on the first night because it was very cold, but I managed to charm my way into Mummy and Daddy’s bed. Everything was much better later though because I got a whole Mars bar to eat. On the second night I really missed my Daddy because he had to go home to do some work. I was very happy to get home and see him today.

Today was REALLY hot! The hottest day in May for 50 years ! So Mummy, Daddy and I went for a trip to the beach where it might be a bit cooler.

We parked the car in Frinton-on-sea and walked along the beach up to Walton-on-the-Naze and back . You can see me in my little video here.

Despite it being so hot, and quite a few people swimming in the sea, there were no ice cream places open! So when we got home Mummy bought an ice lolly and I tried some for the first time. It was LOVELY! But I did get in a bit of a mess! You can see me eating it on video by clicking here.

This green stuff tickles!

Friday, May 27th, 2005

Mummy & Daddy took me out to the back of the house today and put my bare feet onto the strange green carpet in the garden. It felt quite funny and the bits of “grass” got between my toes. I didn’t mind the feeling though – it was just a new experience for me.

Then Daddy and I sat on the grass for a little while and I gently stroked the grass. We went back indoors before I got a chance to find out what grass tastes like, but Mummy said she might take me out there again at the weekend if the weather is nice.

Tell me what you think!

Hopefully (if Daddy has got things right) you can now comment on any of the pieces of news I put on my website.

At the end of each entry there is a link for comments. You can put your thoughts there for all to see! If you want to send me a private message please email me instead.

Rolling, talking, singing…

Saturday, May 21st, 2005

Mummy and Daddy are lazy. They don’t make any effort to learn to speak baby language, so I guess I’d better start learning their language instead. I have been practising saying “Mum”, “Dad”, “Buba” and “Hello” and I’m just about getting them now.

I also have learnt to roll over more than once which means that when Mummy and Daddy put me down and turn their backs I can get halfway across the floor before they look again!

Daddy has had me strumming the guitar and playing a hi-hat. I’m getting good at making a racket but generally get bored and start eating the drumsticks instead. I also enjoy singing. Sometimes I will sing a song with Daddy and sometimes I like to sing myself to sleep.

Bath Time

Tuesday, May 17th, 2005

I am really getting used to this bath thing! It’s not quite as good as the swimming pool but I can have all my own toys with me and I don’t have to wear any silly bathing outfits.

I really like to splash my arms around and don’t care if I get water in my eyes. I don’t like to get out though!

My first week of proper food

Saturday, May 7th, 2005

This week I have started to eat lots of big boys food. My favourites are roast chicken or pasta bolognese but I really like dessert too! Mummy and Daddy think I’m a bit messy, but I don’t know what they mean…
